Buruburu Girls High School has been closed indefinitely.
The closure comes after a fire broke out in one of the dormitories on Sunday evening.
The school's Board Chairman Mr. Lazarus Opicho confirmed the closure after a meeting with the parents on Monday.
Mr. Opicho said the school will allow students to go home for a few days as the investigation into the incident commences.
“Parents will be allowed to go home with the girls and the date when they are supposed to come back will be communicated. Any girl who will be found to be involved in the fire incident will face the law,” he said.
As of Sunday evening, 59 students were receiving treatment for smoke inhalation at the Metropolitan Hospital in Nairobi.
The fire broke out at one of the school dormitories named Kingdom at around 5 pm.
According to a video shared online, several students were seen jumping out of the affected building.
