President Uhuru Kenyatta delivered great news to Kenyans on Wednesday, October 20 during the Mashujaa day celebrations at the Wang'uru Stadium in Kirinyaga County when he announced
the end of the nationwide dusk to dawn curfew.
The curfew was placed on March 27, 2020 to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the country.
The Head of State directed, "With the authority vested in me as president, I hereby order that the nationwide curfew that has been in effect from the 27th of March 2020, is hereby vacated with immediate effect."
After the announcement, many Kenyans particularly those at the stadium cheered and expressed their gratitude.
Uhuru also reviewed the number of congregants allowed in worship centers, stating that two-thirds will be allowed in worship centers from the initial number of one-third.
According to the President, so far, 5 million adults have been vaccinated against Covid-19 and the surge of coronavirus infections has dropped significantly.
However, the country is not out of the woods yet, Uhuru noted.
The president said the National Response team and the National Security Council reviewed containment measures, allowing the the move to end the curfew.
Before the full reopening of the economy, the council will continue to monitor the situation across the border.
