A lightning strike that occurred on Thursday night on Lake Victoria's Bumbile Island in Tanzania's northwestern district of Muleba in Kagera Region, killed four people from the same family.
Confirming that the victims were hit by the lightning while they were asleep, Muleba district commissioner Thoba Nguvilla said, "The victims were a couple and their two children."
Nguvilla added that the deceased family was engaged in farming and fishing on the island.
According to the chairman of Bulyo village in the area, Robert Musiibha, the lightning strike razed the iron-roofed house of the victims to the ground.
