Kenya receives 182,000 doses of AstraZeneca Vaccine from France

Kenya has received 182,400 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine donated by France on Thursday.


The vaccine was donated by the French government through the COVAX facility.


The flight carrying the was received at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by senior ministry of health officials led by the chairperson of the COVID Vaccine Deployment Task Force Dr. Willis Akhwale.

" The Kenyan Government is very grateful to the Government of France for this generous donation, which will support our national COVID-19 vaccination campaign,” Dr. Akhwale said. “

"We have recently embarked on vaccinating our people for the second dose, so this comes at a critical time.”

Dr. Akhwale was flanked by Fench Political Counsellor Emmanuel Dragon and UNICEF Representative Manina Zaman.

So far, a total of 1,511, 693 people have received the COVID-19 vaccine out of which 489, 711 have been fully vaccinated against the virus.
