The Dedan Kimathi University of Technology main campus in Nyeri has been shut down indefinitely following students' protest over fee increment.
The University's Vice-Chancellor Ndirangu Kioni in a memo to all students stated that the University Senate had suspended all in-person learning until further notice.
"All the students should therefore vacate the main campus immediately and not later than 1.00pm today July 15, ” the University VC said. “Further communication will follow”
The rioting students had earlier blocked the road leading to the university.
The protest comes just a day after University of Nairobi students held a similar protest over fee increment. They engaged police in running battles for the better part of the day after they barricade the Uhuru Highway and the University way.
Three students are currently being held by the police awaiting to be arraigned in court.
