An empty petroleum train on transit from Sagana station to Nairobi caught fire on Sunday moments after departure.
There were no causalities reported with the crew on board managing to escape unhurt.
The six wagon train plying the Nanyuki- Nairobi route is said to have gone up in flames after one of its engines
ceased to function
The crew who managed to escape used fire extinguishers canals to control the spread of the fire before firefighters from Murang'a county arrived minutes later and put off the fire.
According to Captain Anthony Mwangi, the lead firefighter, the fire was caused by an electric fault.The Murang'a County firefighters used foam extinguishers to contain the fire.
