Kenyan businessman Chris Kirubi is dead, his family has announced
According to his family, Kirubi 80, passed away on Monday following a long illness.
" It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr Christopher J. Kirubi who passed away today at 1 pm at his home after a long battle with cancer fought with fortitude, grace and courage,” his family said in a statement, adding, “he was surrounded by his family.
Dr Kirubi had been battling cancer since 2016.
Kirubi, the chairperson of the Capital Group Limited was named the second richest Kenyan by Forbes in 2011.
He also made to the list of the top 40 African richest people having been listed at position 31 with an estimated net worth of Sh $ 300 million.
Dr Kirubi also chaired DHL Kenya, Haco Industries , Kiruma International Limited and Nairobi Bottlers.
He was also a director of the Centum Investment that owned Two Rivers Mall.
Dr Kirubi was also popular on the airwaves as DJ CK.
He leaves behind two children.
