The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission( IEBC) has declared Abdulkadir Haji as the duly elected Senator for Garissa County.
Haji was declared the senator-elect on Tuesday after the electoral body declared no contest on the seat having received no other application.
"The Independent Electoral and boundaries commission makes a declaration of no contest and declares the person listed in the 1st and 2nd Column to the Schedule duly elected as the Senator, Garissa County, " read a gazette notice from IEBC
Political parties had up to March 30th to nominate candidates for the mini-polls that was set for May 18th.
Haji shot to fame in 2013, when he rushed to Westlands Shopping Mall as part of the rescue team during an attack by Al Shabaab.
