Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo were the first to take the Covid-19 vaccine in Abuja on Saturday.
The President and the VP's vaccination was aired on live television as the country rolled out the national vaccination campaign that will in the first phase target health care workers.
Buhari and Osinbajo were vaccinated at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Speaking moments after being inoculated, Buhari described his decision to be publicly vaccinated "as a demonstration of faith in the safety and efficacy of the vaccine, "
Nigeria received its first batch of 3.98 million doses of vaccines through Covax on March 2nd .
