Maendeleo Chap Chap ( MCC) Party has withdrawn its candidate Mutua Katuku from the Machakos Senatorial by-election slated for March 18th, 2021.
This now leaves the contest between Wiper's Agnes Kavindu and Urbanus Ngegele of the United Democratic Alliance ( UDA)
Confirming his party move, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua attributed the move as " extending goodwill to President Uhuruku Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga along with other Building Bridges Initiative ( BBI) partners, "
"Maendeleo Chap Chap Party supported the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta and in the spirit of consistency, we support his development agenda and the political stability of the Nation. The party extends goodwill to the President, to Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga and other B.B.I partners by withdrawing its candidate from the forthcoming by-election,”
The seat fell vacant following the death of Senator Mutinda Kabaka who died on 11th December 2020 at a Nairobi hospital.
