Embattled EPRA boss Oimeke quits, joins politics

Former Energy, Petroleum and Regulatory Authority boss (EPRA) Pavel Oimeke has expressed interest in the Bonchari Parliamentary seat.

His announcement came just hours after he tendered his resignation at the state agency.

In a statement on Tuesday, Oimeke said he tendered his resignation letter to Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter.

Oimeke resignation comes amid a corruption case in which he is accused of soliciting a Sh 200,000 bribe to reopen a petrol station in Homa Bay which had been shut down over tax violations by the Kenya Revenue Authority( KRA).

The Bonchari Parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of area MP Oroo Oyioka on February 15th after a long illness.
