Petitions filed against Nairobi Deputy Governor Ann Kananu Mwenda are set to be heard by a three-judge Bench appointed by Acting Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu.
Justice Said Chitembwe will led the bench which includes judges Weldon Korir and Wilfrida Okwany.
The mentioning of the cases will be on February 25 at noon before the bench.
All 10 cases challenging the vetting, appointment, swearing-in and assumption of office of Ann Kananu as Governor of Nairobi County were consolidated by Justice Antony Mrima in January this year.
Consolidating all cases will save judicial time and accord each party an opportunity to be heard, according to Mrima.
The judge said, “In order to foster an orderly conduct of all these related matters and given the limited judicial time coupled with the need to accord each party an opportunity to be heard, I am of the position that all these matters be consolidated.”
Petitions filed by Okiya Omtatah, the Law Society of Kenya, Thirdway Alliance, Anne Kananu herself are among the 10 petitions.
The swearing-in of Kananu as the Deputy Nairobi Governor was stopped by an order issued based on the LSK matter.
Mrima directed that acting Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu should constitute the bench to hear the matter.
