As Uganda heads to the polls, voting in Masaka, the opposition stronghold, has been delayed. The city is located in the Buganda region of the city.
The Electoral Commission is yet to clarify if voting times will be extended despite the delay in delivering election material to polling stations in the city.
Since Wednesday, all internet gateways have been suspended as per the directive given by the communications regulator.
Reportedly, there is failure of biometric voter verification kits which rely on the Internet, which cannot be accessed as per the communications regulator's directive. Consequently, the lines at the polling stations are notably longer.
Ugandans who managed to access the Internet cited social media difficulties in accessing the Internet through wireless connections and mobile services.
