Outgoing US President Donald Trump plans to start a new political party called the Patriot Party.
According to CNN, Trump is looking into a political shift as he leaves the White House, meaning that he will depart from the Republican Party.
The Wall Street Journal was the first to report Trump’s interest in a new party.
The outgoing President's senior aide stated that the general outcome of the presidential election made Trump disgusted with Senate Republicans.
Although another senior advisor to Trump confirmed the claim, he added that it may not be serious. Another advisor referred to the prospect of launching a new party as a “lame” move.
However, CNN reports indicate that there no clarity regarding Trump's plans to start a new political party.
Last year in November 3, 2020, Trump lost the presidential election to Democratic candidate, Joe Biden, who will be sworn-in today.
