The Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss George Kinoti has summoned former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko over claims that he and other senior government officials planned and executed chaos in 2017 .
Sonko has been directed to avail himself at the head of serious crimes unit next Monday at 8a.m
The summon comes just a day after Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho recorded a statement with the detectives after Sonko alleged that he was part of those who funded the execution of the chaos and blamed it on Orange Democratic Movement( ODM) Party supporters.
Sonko made the allegation in Dagoretti South,Nairobi on Sunday in a function graced by Deputy President William Ruto.
" In 2017, I and Kibicho together with the system printed ODM t-shirts, bought second-hand cars, then burnt them on Ngong Road so that it could be seen it was ODM supporters that had burnt them ," alleged Sonko
Speaking to the press on Monday, moments after recording the statement, Kibicho accused Sonko of character assassination vowing to sue him of defamation
Kibicho further said that Sonko's confession amounts to an admission of involvement in serious crime and that action should be taken against him.
