Muthama's arrest in Msambweni instigatetes conflicting reports

There are conflicting reports regarding Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama's arrest in Msambweni.

The Senator who was arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta Primary school has been among the chief campaigners for Independent candidate Feisal Mohammed.

During the voting exercise at the polling station, some voters were locked out and a scuffle erupted and Muthama was arrested. Consequently, the polling station was closed.

According to Nyali MP Mohammed Ali who was present, the blocked voters were Feisal's supporters.

Former Kakamega Senator Boniface Khalwale claimed that Muthama’s arrest was a way of the police harassing and intimidating lawmakers and voters in the ongoing elections.

On the other hand, ODM spokesperson Phillip Etale refuted the claims above and accused Muthama of bribing voters. He promised to share a video of the incident.

Etale stated, “Former Machakos Senator Muthama arrested as he and Khalwale tried to bribe voters at Jomo Kenyatta Primary School in Ramisi.”

The Tanga Tanga lawmakers are claiming that police officers are in cahoots with ODM as they plan to rig the polls in favour of the other candidate Omar Boga.

Also, MPs who are DP William Ruto allies claimed that Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho had access to the polling stations to bribe voters.
