Findings from a survey undertaken by Infotrak indicate that most Kenyans are optimistic about 2021 as they believe that the year will be better than 2020.
According to the survey findings released on Thursday, 61 per cent of Kenyans 2021 will be much better than 2020.
From those interviewed, 95 percent felt 2020 was the most difficult year in their lives.
The study involved 800 respondents with 3.5+/- margin of error and it was carried out between December 27 to December 29.
The findings showed that the major concerns for most Kenyans were high cost of living and access to healthcare as their major concerns.
Approximately 44 percent of those who said 2020 was the most difficult year justified their response with financial instability.
24 percent lost their jobs, 21 percent experienced business collapse while 2 percent either lost a friend, colleague or relative.
Most respondents who said they were disappointed by 2020 were from the coastal region.
72 percent said they experienced extreme difficulty while Nyanza region followed with 64 percent citing the same sentiments.
62 of Nairobi residents and 61 percent of respondents from Western and Eastern listed 2020 as their worst year.
North Eastern was represented by 60 per cent, Rift Valley 59 percent and Central Kenya 54 percent.
77 percent of the respondents saying they were unable to spend this festive period as they have in the past.
Infotrak’s Walter Nyabundi said, “A total of 61 percent unable to celebrate this festive period as they would have liked due to financial constraints."
