A senior Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) officer has been accused of sexual harassment in the workplace.
According to the allegations, the suspect has been making unwelcome sexual advances at an intern within the premises of the institution. He touched her breasts frequently as he forced her to hug him.
Reports indicate that the issue went on for five months on diverse dates between December 2016 and April 2017 when the victim was the only female intern at the internal audit department.
She reported the matter to the police in April 2017 and a P3 form was filled.
After she felt the police were dragging investigations and taking long to apprehend the suspect, the victim decided to lodged a complaint with the Federation of women lawyers (FIDA).
