Former Kabete DCIO jailed over bribery

A former Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) chief in Kabete was jailed for one year after he was found guilty of soliciting Sh50,000 from a businessman.

Henry Njeru was sentenced on Tuesday December 8. An alternative to his sentence was a Sh500,000 fine.

According to the Anti-Corruption Court, the  prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt that the Njeru was involved in the bribe.

The evidence showed that the officer had received Sh50,000 in 2010from a man identified as Wachaga Kamau.

Njeru solicited the amount from the man as a  ‘facilitation’ fee for him to have the police release his camera.
