Kenya records 810 new Covid-19 cases,eight more deaths

Kenya's current Covid-19 case load has risen to 79,322 as the country recorded 810 new cases on Wednesday. 

In a statement, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe confirmed that the new cases are from a sample size of 7,387, recording a positivity rate of 10.9 per cent.

So far, the cumulative tests are at 855,403.

The eight more deaths that were recorded on Wednesday brought the total number of fatalities to 1,417.

According to the CS, there are 1,198 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country while other 7,169 patients are on the home-based care programme.

31 patients are in ICU on ventilatory support. 

106 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen. 91 of them are in general wards and 15 in the HDU.

From the new cases reported, 792 are Kenyans while 18 are foreigners.

In the context of gender, 475 are males while 335 are females. In terms of age, the youngest is a one-year-old child and the oldest is 87 years old. 

On the other hand, 265  patients have recovered from the disease. From this number, 55 were discharged from various health facilities while 210 were from the Home-based care program. 

The total number of recoveries currently stands at 52,974.
