Why tutors salaries won't be affected

Kenyan schools have remained closed since March this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. 

Schools were shutdown after the first case  of commmunity transmitted COVID-19 case was confirmed in country by the Ministry of Health.


 
Millions of school going children have remained at home close to seven months now without any formal learning taking place. At the same time teachers have also been at home .

Recently, the Teachers Service Commission directed all teachers to continue reporting to schools in preparation for eventually reopening of schools.

With uncertainty in school reopening, concerns have been afloat with a number of teachers expressing fears that their salaries could interest the government, the TSC has steered clear that it has no intentions of halting the payments

" There is no plans to stop paying teachers, this is because it's not the teachers who have refused  to go to class . Schools are closed due to coronavirus, " TSC director of communications Beatrice Wababu said.
