The CT scan centre in Kerugoya County Referral Hospital is now operational, therefore, enhancing health care delivery for residents in need of critical health services.
The national and county governments collaborated under the Managed Equipment Services (MES) to facilitate the installation of the state-of-the-art CT scan equipment.
According to the County Executive Committee Member for Health, Gladys Kimingi, the functionality of the CT scan center is a huge relief because it solves the problem of patient being referred to hospitals outside the county.
Ms. Kimingi said, “We are now fully equipped to offer CT scan services and we are appealing to the county residents to make use of the facility."
She added that the hospital has radiographers and radiologists, as well as other supporting medical staff to effectively cater for the residents in need of it.
The significance of a CT scan is that it detects and monitors conditions and diseases like heart diseases, tumours, blood clots, bone and muscle disorders, and other severe infections.
The development of a modern five-storey 250-bed medical complex that will house intensive care (ICU) and high dependency units among other amenities in the hospital is underway.
