The High Court has declined a request by the DPP to transfer the murder trial of a former police boss Stephen Lelei who was honoured for bravery during the Westgate Mall terror attack from Machakos Law Court to Milimani Law Court in Nairobi.
Stephen Lelei and Fredrick Leliman were charged with killing of two people.
In his application the DPP indicated that the reason for the transfer of the case from Machakos to Nairobi was brought about by the second murder charge Fredrick Leliman is facing.
In the Milimani case, Mr Leliman is charged alongside other four officer who are accused of killing Human Rights lawyer Willie Kimani, his client and a taxi driver in 2016.
In Machakos, Mr Lelei and Mr Leliman are being tried for the killing of Jacob Mwenda and Elizabeth Nduku in 2016 at Mlolongo town.
