Airtel taps Ericsson to modernize its 4G network in Kenya



Ericsson is Airtel's choice for the enhancement  of its Coverage in Kenya. The telecommunication company has been criticized for poor network coverage in urban and rural areas. 

Airtel subscribers are about to enjoy Ericsson's 4G packet core pdoiand its Radio Access Network (RAN) because they will experience quality data and voice. 

The deal was actualized in August 2020 as a reinforcement of the Kenyan Digital Economy Blueprint Vision 2030 that focuses on the provision of robust mobile network connectivity in rural areas. It also supports the facilitation of e-commerce platforms.

Airtel network will be upgraded and simplified to expand mobile coverage in Kenya. The Ericsson Radio System and Packet Core solutions assures Kenya's Airtel network 4G coverage and enhanced enhanced network usage among consumers and enterprises. 

The mobile technology endeavors to prepare Airtel in Kenya for actualization of 5G deployment.

Airtel Kenya CEO, Prasanta Das Sarma, confidently said that the deal between Ericsson and Airtel will reinforce “robust and secure communications” as per the standards of the Kenyan Digital society.
