On Wednesday, the KenGen Board of Directors held a meeting in which they appointed KDF chief General Samson Mwathethe as the board chairman, replacing Joshua Choge.
Choge served as the organization's board chairman since January 2014.
The Board said that Mwathethe brings vast experience in strategy and leadership to the organisation.

Various command appointments that Mwathethe has held in the past include Deputy Commander Kenya Navy,
Commander of the Kenya Navy, chief of the Defence Forces, Kenya Navy Logistics Commander, Fleet Commander and Base Commander Mtongwe.
He has also been 86 Squadron Commander and Staff Officer, Coordinator at the Department of Defence, Chief of Systems & Procurement, Department of Defence, Staff Officer Operations at Navy Headquarters and Commander of Individual Kenya Navy Ships.
Mwathethe's professional and military training includes International Sub-Lieutenants Course (UK), International Principal Warfare (IPWO) Course, UK, Missiles Course (Italy) and Royal Navy Staff College Greenwich (UK).
He also attended the Defence Resource Management Course in Monterey, USA in 1998, and the National Defence College in Nairobi in 2000.
His term as KDF chief ended in May this year and was succeeded by Robert Kibochi.
